A fantastic exhibition celebrating volunteering at the 2014 Commonwealth Games is at the People’s Palace. Co-produced by the Games volunteers and Glasgow Museums, the exhibition explores the impact the Games have had on the people of Glasgow.

Ibrahim, a volunteer at The Hidden Gardens, volunteered at the Games and is featured in the exhibition. He interviewed our Volunteering Manager Andrea, and the footage is displayed in the exhibition. We hope the newfound fame does not change Andrea.

Did you see us?

The Hidden Gardens were absolutely thrilled to be a part of the Commonwealth Games Opening Ceremony on Wednesday evening. Planning for the Countdown started back in March, and it’s been hard to keep it under our hats since then!

A group of staff and volunteers went to the rehearsal of the Opening Ceremony on Monday, and it was amazing seeing the Gardens on the big screen.

Here are some behind the scenes shots of the number being made. They’re a little less glamorous than the finished film!

On Tuesday 22nd July, the Queen’s Baton made an appearance at The Hidden Gardens. It was very exciting, with staff and volunteers getting a chance to hold it, before it went on its merry journey around other parts of Glasgow. It got us all in the Commonwealth Games spirit, and we’re all getting excited!

If you’re getting a little overwhelmed by the Games, always remember you’ve a Sanctuary at The Hidden Gardens. Recharge your batteries here, then get back to cheering at the Games!
